U-boat stands very strong in the US market, while many other luxury brands just enjoy a short honeymoon and then taste the pain of being neglected. I know a great number of men who buy and wear luxury watches just to satisfy their showiness nature – they have little knowledge of fine watches. And it is true that, for American guys, the most important accessory and the most significant part of their outfits is the watch. And for most American men, over-sized watches are always top choices to highlight their masculinity. So it is common to see men wearing watches around 55mm on the street.

The U-Boat U-51 Rattrap ante, fashioned from steel, is in fact 51mm at diameter- not includes the sophisticated chronograph pushers and crown fitted at the left side of the case for a cool look and extra comfort. It is constructed to 19mm at thickness. But to U-Boat, the huge case without any lugs represent part of their valued characters. And I admire that the watch is presented on a retro style reptile strap – it is a good idea to have strap naturally integrated into the case since the size is massive. The dial, with designer style and military touch, is faithful to what the brand designs are pursuing for. The large space of the dial gets reasonable use, and the whole dial looks quite harmonious. Though having many elements, the dial still maintains adorable legibility.

Beating inside the watch is a Swiss ETA 7750 automatic chronograph movement that have been modified. The modified parts included a date indicator in dial style and split-second complication that is constructed into the chronograph. You can admire this nice looking movement via the display case back.
